Productive Day At Rehearsals
We rocked up an old Sonny James song from the 60's called "Running Bear". We kind of rocked up the drums a little bit and added a little distortion to the leads. Came out kind of cool. Looking forward to rockin' it out on stage.

Day Off From Rehearsal This Week.
Chad is going out of town today. He is headed into the hills.
Evan hasn't had a day off from his day job for awhile, so we are going to take the weekend off.
I bought a new toy online today. It's a ZOOM H2 portable audio recorder. I hope to get some good quality live recordings of our shows. Hope it works. It ought to be shipped here by the 19th of December. Hopefully we will soon have some better recordings posted online here in a few weeks! Can't wait!

Snowy Night At Thomas Waldo's.
I think the snow may have been an issue last night. Not quite the crowd we are use too seeing, but everyone who came out seemed to have a good time, as did we.
It was a very exhausting weekend, but definitely a fun one.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support us!

Thomas Waldo's Last Night
It started out to look like it was going to be a packed house, but apparently, there was some kind of music entertainment going on at the bar across the street. Folks kind of wandered back and forth through the night, so the crowd was a little less than average then usual.
Never the less, we had an awesome time as did everyone who came out. Another awesome party at Thomas Waldo's!
Evan got us booked in Thomas Waldo's for two more dates in the next couple months:
Dec 3, 2011
Jan 7, 2012
Come on out a join the fun!

Awesome Rehearsal!
Awesome practice today! 7 or 8 more songs added to our list. We'll try to debut them next Saturday night up in Paonia at Thomas Waldo's. Come on up and check us out! Looking forward to it.
I thought that maybe it might snow on the way out to Chad's, but it didn't. Pretty good threat though.
Andy cut some ads out of the newspaper last week. They are advertisement ads in the Cedaredge paper for the Halloween party we played for at the Ponderosa.
Sunday, November 6, 2011
Nice Rehearsal!
Was a good practice today. Found a few more songs to eventually add to our show. With a little time, we will polish them up quick.

We Made The Paper...

Chad gave me a news paper last night. It was a copy of the Mountain Valley News; the Cedaredge paper.
On page 13 of the October 5th edition was a picture of the Cabin Fever Band playing on Main Street at Applefest. The article doesn't mention our names, but it's nice to see that out of all the bands that were playing that day, we were the ones to make the paper. Thanks Mountain Valley News!

Brandon & Hanna's Cow Camp Wedding.
Headed up on the Uncompahgre Mesa for Brandon and Hanna Douglas' wedding.
I met Evan, Chad and Andy at the Railroad tracks in Whitewater. They weren't sure where they were going, so they followed me up. I wasn't totally sure where it was at either and we went about 5 or 6 miles past it. We finally found it though.
After the wedding and after people had finished eating, we started playing about 1:30 PM. Other than about two 20 minute breaks, we played straight through till about 5:30.
Everyone seemed to enjoy us and had fun. We had a good time.
Thanks for having us out guys! Give us a call if you decide to do it again next year! lol

Chad is also working on getting a public dance setup at Pea Green Hall. Watch the schedule and Facebook for more details!

Test Run With The New Mixer Board.
Rehearsal went good. There's not a lot of time to really hit the new stuff. When we aren't playing every weekend, we have to keep going over the list to stay fresh on the songs that we are currently doing. In time though, we will be adding new stuff.

Drifters Pig Roast Cancelled.

New Mixer Board On The Way.
Evan ordered a new mixer board this week. It's a Mackie 16 channel unpowered board. It has built in effects. Ought to be a good board. We are going to get together on Friday and see if we can get it dialed in for our gig on Saturday.
By the way, we will be playing for the Drifters Pig Roast down here near Palisade. Apparently, there will be a number of other bands playing too. Not too sure as to how many. We still don't know where it is we are going or what time we are playing. we just know somewhere between Clifton and Palisade. I guess it's a big secret.

Excellent Rehearsal Tonight.
Chad and Andy were there when I got there, but Evan was running a little later than me.
About the time we got everything fire up, he showed up though.
We had a real good practice. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood and ready to play.
Evan says that the Drifters Pig Roast will take place between Clifton And Palisade. I'm still not sure of the address or the time schedule, but they try to keep it a secret until the last minute to prevent party crashers.

Drifters Pig Roast.

Sound Troubleshooting Tonight.
We setup the equipment like it was an actual gig to find out what are sound issues are and the cause. We are all in agreement that the board has some bad channels.
Evan is going to take it in again and see if it may be just a dirt issue. About 6 channels are affected. If that is not the case, than I believe we will be in the market for a new one
We went over a few songs off the list tonight. Songs that were a little sloppy at the last gig.

Sport Center Lounge...
It was a good night. We had a lot of fun and a better than average crowd.
Andy was still a little sore from his surgery last week, but he pulled the night off without a hitch.
I think we are on the verge of looking for some new sound equipment. The sound board we are using is over 20 years old and I think is near the end of its life. Channels are going out of it and parts for it are obsolete. Our speakers are older yet and are beginning to crack making it that much more harder to get a good clean mix.
I think most of the people that was there were there for karaoke that is normally there on Saturday nights, but they all seemed to have a good time.
Thanks to the Sport Center for having us back!
Sunday, May 1, 2011
Laid Back Rehearsal.

A Three Piece For Rehearsal Today.
The three of us made the most of it though. We came up with a few more new song ideas, went over some of the new stuff that we have been working on and touched on a few of the older ones. It was actually quite productive. Above all, a fun day.
Sunday, April 3, 2011
A Snowy Day For Rehearsal.
Sunday, March 27, 2011
Got The Old Yamaha Working Again.
Evan got the old Yamaha mixer board working again. Hopefully we won't have any issues with it for awhile. Parts for it are obsolete. It sure sounds good though.
Sunday, March 20, 2011
Black Canyon Cafe
A new place opened in town and a band was playing the West Elk Inn in Hotchkiss. I think there was just too much going on elsewhere. We still had fun anyway and hope to be back again soon. Thanks Black Canyon Cafe for having us!

Back At The Sport Center Lounge
He later sent a message that it would be the 7th of May instead. Whew! That's a relief... We going to try a Saturday night and see if there is an improvement in the patron attendance.
So, with that cleared up, we are going to be back at the Sport Center On May 7th. Come on down and check us out!
Sunday, March 13, 2011
Another Rehearsal Day.
Evan got a new effects processor and it took us a while to get it dialed in. Also, Andy was a little late, so we were a little slow getting started. It turned out to be productive once we got started. It's all good!
Wednesday, March 9, 2011
Booked At the Black Canyon Cafe.
Come on out and catch the fever!

Blu Sky Saloon Tonight.
It was a birthday bash for the president of the Vietnam Vets Bike Club. We had a real good turnout. There were bikers from all over the country. Everyone seemed to have a good time. We got a few good recommendations and a lot of good comments.
A biker that use to play rhthym guitar for George Thorogood years ago, commented that we had a "Good sound and a nice blend." That was cool!
We were all pretty tired at the end of the night. It took a while to get everything loaded up, but it definitely was worth it.
Friday, March 4, 2011
Busy Evening Rehearsal.
All and all, it was a very productive rehearsal. We went down our set list and touched on a few things that were a problem and got them ironed out. Some songs still have some bugs in them, but with a little more playing time on them we'll get them.
Tomorrow night we head for Cedaredge, Colorado to the Blu Sky Saloon. We are playing a birthday party for the the president of the Vietnam Vets Bike Club.
Saturday, February 12, 2011
Rockin' At the Sport Center Lounge.
Tonight was the first official booking for the "Cabin Fever Band" return. The first of many more shows to come.
We used Evan's mixer tonight, so we had a few sound issues tonight. I think we will be using Mike Levins system from now on until we get a better setup. Half way through the night, we blew a main speaker. That was part of the sound problem. I noticed it when I loaded it in the truck. The speakers are about 25 years old, so it's really no surprise.
Saturday, February 5, 2011
Booked At The Blue Sky Saloon On March 5th.
Chad, Andy and I met at Evan's about 2:00 PM. We added another song to the list while we were waiting for Evan and fine tuned it when Evan finally arrived a little after 4:00. Practice lasted about an hour later than usual.
Evan booked us for March 5th at the Blue Sky Saloon in Cedaredge. Unfortunately, it is for a private party, but maybe it'll work into something else.

1st Booking Of Cabin Fever
Break out your dancing shoes on Feb. 11. Cabin Fever is going to be playing a full evening at the Sport Center Lounge in Delta. We will be playing for the door, so we need all you "able bodied" people out there to come on down and catch the fever!
Cabin Fever is the only band booked in the Sport Center to date. If the crowd is good, we may be back. We promise you a real good time. It's the first booking of the year for the band and it's going to be a rip roaring good time. Don't miss Out! The band starts at 9:00 PM.

Clay Hemstrom Passed Away.
Clay Boyd Hemstrom passed from this life on January 13, 2011 at his residence in Austin, Colorado.
He is survived by his son Jacob Hemstrom; his father, Beryl; his mother, Greta; brother, Miles Hemstrom and wife, Nancy, of Gresham, Oregon; brother Van Hemstrom and wife, Carole, of Montrose, Colorado; sister Gail (Shakira) Hemstrom of Ault, Colorado; sister Sarah Hansen and husband, Jeff, of Bend, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.
Clay was born in Kremmling, Colorado on February 27, 1957. He spent his childhood and adult life in the vicinity of Olathe, Colorado, where he graduated from Olathe High School in 1975. Clay was an avid outdoorsman, talented musician, and gifted woodworker. He constructed and played many musical instruments over the years, built numerous pieces of furniture, and hunted and fished the length and width of the Uncompahgre Valley. He was a free spirit and was happiest camping, hunting, fishing, or playing music with his friends. He enjoyed being around his family: swapping stories and eating. He will be greatly missed by those he left behind.
A memorial service celebrating Clay’s life will be held at the Pea Green Community Hall on the Fifth of February, 2011 from 1 to 5 PM. Please join us for lunch and music.

AWESOME Rehearsal!!
We have about 3 more songs nearly ready to add to the song list.
Evan is in talks with the Sport Center and nearly on the verge of getting another booking there. We may have to play for the door there a couple times, but at least we'll be playing. It could work into other gigs.
The Blue Sky in Cedaredge is looking for a band on March 5th for a veteran biker party, that may be a good possibility there too.

No New Years Video.. Sorry.
I thought that I didn't get any video of "Switchback", but I did get a full set recorded and about 1 3/4 sets of "Cabin Fever".
A New Years Rockin Eve!!
Chad, Evan and I packed up the equipment and headed down to the Sport Center Lounge in Delta. We setup and got the sound going before everyone else got there.
Tonight was the last gig for "Switchback".
Switchback played the first two sets and "Cabin Fever" finished out the night. Both bands did an awesome job and we had a great turnout. "Switchback" definitely went out with a bang. It was a blast!
I hooked up the video camera to record the night, but I only got "Cabin Fever". For some reason I still have a problem pushing the "record" button on the camera. I can't seem to push it hard enough I guess. Oh well, I got Cabin Fever, for the most part.t.
Tonight was the first gig with the 5-string bass. I had a few string issues on the bass, but nothing that anyone noticed. I did all right as long, as I didn't think about the extra string.
Everyone seemed to have a great time. It was a FUN night.
It was 3 below in Delta when I left and 3 above when I got home just before 3:00 AM.
