Christmas Party Rehearsal.

Evan had a Christmas party at his house. We rehearsed a little bit too. We were minus Chad though, so it wasn't a very productive one though.

Chad was home sick with a bad cold.

This was the first band get together since October. We took a couple months off since we didn't  have any more bookings.. It was kind of nice, but time to get back in the grind again.. Getting anxious to play again.

We tore down and stayed at the Rocky Mountain Inn in Craig for the night.

We had a great time.. Thanks for having us out! Hopefully, we'll be back up there soon.

First, We played a benefit at Niko's this afternoon. It went pretty good. Not a huge crowd, but they had a good time.

We tore down and went to Sam's tavern for the evening gig. That was an awesome time. Wild crowd!! Who would have thought that we would ever have our own private dancer on stage with us. She was awesome and I might say, did a good job trying to distract us.. I admit she did a couple times..

Thanks Niko's and Sam's Tavern for having us out! We had a blast!

Sweet Corn Festival

We had a great time at the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival this year. We played the big stage at 3:20 PM and played 40 minutes..

I guestimated that there was probably about 2000 people in the crowd this year. I think it was a record attendance for us!
It was hot though, but we worked through it. Folks seemed to enjoy it.. I know we did..

After the Corn Fest , we setup played at the old roller skating rink in Olathe. We had a great turn out for that too.. Fellow reunion classmates of Chad and I, came out and had a good time. It was a blast!

"Flour Power?"

Got a call today from Evan. The place in Ridgeway called "Flour Power" (Looking to change things soon) had a last minute band cancellation and booked us in their place for tomorrow night.

Come on out to Ridgeway and check us and the new place out! The band starts at 9:00 PM!
By the way, We'll be back there again on next Friday night also.

Quiet Day At The Museum Of The Mountain West

Played in Montrose yesterday at the Museum of the Mountain West.

I don't think it was quite the turnout that they expected. There definitely wasn't much of a crowd. May have been an advertising issue.

None the less, We had a good time and it was a great dress rehearsal.

Possible Museum Of The West Gig.

We had another awesome rehearsal yesterday. We went over vocal harmonies and touched on trouble songs. We're ready for Thomas Waldo's this weekend.

Chad has setup another gig in Montrose at the Museum of Mountain West. They are having some kind of outdoor festivities going on on June 9th. They are furnishing equipment and we will play for an hour at 1:00 PM.
It's not confirmed yet, but we expect it to be this week. Its a freebee, but it ought to be good exposure. Should be fun!

Awesome practice today! We touched on a few of the old country songs.
Evan is trying to get us into the Corn Festival this year. We will likely be doing it again this year. Always great exposure!

R. I. P. Arla..

Cabin Fever Band attended the funeral of Chads mother, Arla Schmalz. She was a follower of the band since Chad joined the group in about 1986. Her grandson Dean Abbott joined the group soon after Chad to play drums.

It was nice to see Dean and his wife Trish. It's been a long time. lots of good memories.

Thanks to Arla for all the support! God bless and rest in peace...

Played Sport Center Lounge.

Played the Sport Center Lounge last night. It definitely turned out better than I thought it would. Chad, I'm sure, had his mom on his mind. He is going to be burying her today.

I have had a cold for the last week, which is mostly a throat issue. I was worried about my voice cracking and it did a time or two. Nothing major though.

We had a pretty good crowd though.

Lee Douglas sat in with us for a few songs. He did a nice job.

Thanks to all our friends for coming out!

Short But Sweet Rehearsal Today!

Practice got a late start today, but it was still as productive as ever. Evan had a house full of kinfolk at his house, so we even had an audience for a change.

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Booked At The Hampton Inn In Montrose.

Evan, through a text, told me that he has booked us to play at the Hampton Inn in Montrose for a post-golf tournament party.

This is going to be a very interesting gig. It is being held on a Thursday night, so its going to be tough with the band having day jobs.. We will only have to suffer through one day, so I think we'll be ok. Lets do it!

I gave Evan a lead on a couple possible gigs in Grand Junction. That is something in the works, so I'll have to get back with you on that when I hear what's going on..

Practice Is Moved To Saturday..

Practice is at 3:00 PM this Saturday.. Apparently, Chad has better things to do on Sunday..LOL

Just kidding.. Saturday works fine.

Created A Business Card Flyer.

Threw together an online business card to post on business' Facebook pages in hopes of maybe getting a few more gigs booked.

It would be nice to get out of the North Fork and Uncompahgre valleys every once in a while.

Excellent Rehearsal Today!!

Rehearsal day again today. Another awesome practice in the history book!

We went over our new stuff and touched on a few of the old.

I just cannot believe how tight we have gotten over the last year and a half. I strongly believe that Cabin Fever Band has never sounded better than we do at the present time. It has definitely been a great ride over the last year and a half and I hope it continues on in to the future. Life is good!

Got Some Drum Mics Today!

I went down to Hart's Music today to pick up a new set of 5-string bass strings. While I was there, I picked up a set of four drum mics for Andy to use. They came with mounting brackets on them, but unfortunately, they don't come with mic cords. Hopefully, Evan will have some extra ones laying around somewhere. I think they may work nicely! Less than $100.00

Played At the Cedaredge Community Center last night.

Cabin Fever Band headed up to Cedaredge last night.

We played a private party for The Snokrusers; A local snowmobile club based in Delta, Colorado.

After getting things setup, we took a trip to Hotchkiss to see if we could drum up a gig at the West Elk Inn, but the place is closed and has a realtor sign in the window. We heard the place was opening back up, but just a rumor. Killed a little time though.

It was a good crowd of about 80-100 people, but they were all worn out after a long day of riding. So they didn't hang out too long after dinner.

We played straight through the night with no breaks for a little over 2 hours.

It was a lot of fun while it lasted.

Thanks to the Snokrusers for having us out!

We will all be meeting to setup at 2:00 PM. They are having a dinner at 5:00, so we need to be setup before then. We will start playing at 8:00 PM.

Sorry for any problems this may cause.

Thomas Waldo's Last Night..

Awesome night at Thomas Waldo's! We had a little smaller crowd than usual, but everyone who made it out seemed to have a great time.

A lot of things were going around town, so things didn't get rolling till near the end of the night. The rain and the snow may have been a factor also. There was about 2" of snow when I left Paonia.

The roads were crappy coming home, but once i got past Delta, they seemed to get a lot better.  It was snowing pretty hard at times though. Thankfully, it just wasn't sticking.

Sunday, January 15, 2012

Awesome Rehearsal!

Awesome rehearsal today.

We have a couple new songs that maybe ready to preview next weekend in Paonia. Looking forward to it.

Next Saturday, Cabin Fever will be back in Paonia at Thomas Waldo's for another wild party. Come on out for a rip roarin' good time!

Good Rehearsal Today.

A good rehearsal today.

We went over a few new songs and touched on a few older ones.

Recorded a little bit more also. The recordings seemed to be a little better. I think I figured out what happened with the bad New Years Eve recordings. I will try it again at Thomas Waldo's.

New Years At The Sport Center Lounge!!

Headed for Delta to the Sport Center Lounge for our Cabin Fever New Years Eve gig.

We got setup about an hour early. We had a great crowd of about 80 people and they all seemed to have a blast. The dance floor always had someone on it.

We had a blast!! What a fun night!!

I used my zoom to record us, but for some reason, I couldn't get the recording volume levels to come down. I think it was either a compressor issue or a cord issue. I had to used a longer patch cord. I'm not sure that didn't have something to do with it. Not a lot of time to mess with before the show though. I'll keep playing with it and eventually I'll figure it out.

We rang in the new year and played till nearly 2:00 AM.

It was a slow process tearing down, but we eventually got it done.

I headed home and arrived just before 4:00 AM.
